The Klamath sale was highlighted by an excellent collection of Eastern Oregon type lynx cats. The better end sold to very strong competition. Commercial type cats and females sold at current market values. The better Western cats sold well, but the collection included a large quantity of badly handled skins, which kept the average down. Top quality coyotes sold very well, but many of the pelts offered were springy, which kept overall prices low. Prices on a very mediocre collection of mostly western Oregon beaver were very strong and sold 100 % to good competition. The otter offering included a good percentage of smaller sizes and lower grades, which accounts for the average price being under $100. A very good collection of spring muskrats sold to strong competition. A late collection of fox sold surprisingly well. Badgers, skunks, civets, possums, and raccoons were in strong demand. The mink offering was primarily late caught and sold strong considering the quality. That seems to indicate that buyers will be willing to break the $15.00 barrier on this item come fall. Good extra heavy winter and spring nutria sold well, with the flatter goods keeping the overall average down. The better collections of XL and up nutria averaged $ 5 - $ 6. Antlers and porky hair sold steady to levels established at previous sales. Castor prices continued to climb.
