Long-hair fur – primarily coyotes and bobcats – dominated the second OTC sale.  Even though prices on coyotes were disappointing, they were in line with prices paid at other recent trapper sales in the West.  Heavy, pale, large size, well-spotted cats continue to bring top dollar while the ordinary, commercial quality, and smaller size goods were bid at levels slightly below last season.  Otter prices remain strong.  Prices on beaver, marten, and mink have improved over last year.  Several buyers commented on the high percentage of pelts that were not thoroughly dry (wet ears and necks).  This undoubtedly had an affect on prices offered, as wet pelts require additional work on the buyers part and are not ready for immediate sale.  Porcupine guard hair is in high demand, as are the better grades of deer antler.
